LAST FRONTIER. In obeying Christ's commands to proclaim the gospel in all the earth and make disciples from among all peoples, situations will arise in which those who carry this Good News are hindered by those who do not yet know the Savior. You, as a Great Commission intercessor, know that we regularly pray for representatives who have followed Christ's call to lands where access to the gospel is very limited and barriers to its spread are daunting. We call this part of the world the Last Frontier.
A team living in a Last Frontier nation is, right now, under extreme pressure from authorities. They are not in physical danger, but their ministries and those with whom they work are in jeopardy.
Jesus reminded us: "In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Please ask God to remind them of these very words and take courage in Him.
Pray that as they are questioned, they will be reminded of Jesus' assurance: "And when they bring you before the...authorities, do not become anxious about how or what you should speak in your defense, or what you should say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say" (Luke 12:12).
Ask the Prince of Peace to bring to their minds personalized words from His Word, that they might be strengthened in the inner person and be enabled to stand.
Pray that rather than a setback, God will cause this situation to work out for the enhanced spread of His kingdom of love among their people. And lastly, pray for them the prayer words of the first century church: "Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Thy bond-servants may speak Thy word with all confidence" (Acts 4:29).
