To demonstrate and discuss the advantages of stenciled decorative concrete in landscape design applications: create a more uniform and level surface; greater control over drainage and slope; less prone to drainage issues or delamination from freeze/thaw cycles; less problematic with snow removal equipment compatible with wide variety of coloring and texturing techniques; compatible with overlayment and vertical applications; available in dozens of patterns custom-cut designs available for signage or specialty markings.



Yvonne English's "Designing Outdoor Rooms"

What is an outdoor room? It is an outside extension of the property's living area. An outdoor room is a space, with or without walls, used for a purpose, such as a kitchen, family room, or just a retreat. Yvonne will present her process for defining outdoor rooms, how she creates the ceilings, walls and floors of those rooms and how they can be furnished.



Lara Jacobson Cordell + Yvonne English's " Design Outdoor Lighting for the Dark Sky"

Specified periods of light and dark, known as circadian rhythms, are essential for good health for life on Earth, including humans. Light pollution is any adverse effect of artificial light, including sky glow, glare, light trespass, light clutter, decreased visibility at night, and energy waste. Landscape Architect, Yvonne English, and Lighting Designer, Lara Cordell will describe Dark Sky. They will provide an outdoor lighting design overview, then present design considerations to minimize light pollution and preserve more of our night sky. Finally, the speakers will discuss the USGBC requirements for LEED credit compliance.

In an effort to educate all who use or plan to use low-voltage lighting, SEBCO Industries Inc. is proud to present "Low-Voltage Lighting Techniques." Paul Santos + Jason Gihring's "Soil Testing and Disease Diagnosis"

Potential soil and water pollution can be minimized when nutrient application is geared to the needs of a particular crop. An effective fertility testing program is one in which every field or greenhouse is properly sampled and tested on a regular basis. This gives you a running inventory of the nutrient levels for each crop, plus specific recommendations as to the kinds and rates of fertilizers to apply for each crop. Recommendations can be based on specific times and methods of application. Reliable soil test results and recommendations depend upon many factors, including; proper soil sampling and sample processing procedures, proper soil analysis techniques and sound fertilizer recommendation guidelines.
