Course Description
This course will discuss the scope of current invasive insect species and how they are treated using trunk injection as an effective and environmentally way to treat trees. Also discussed are the ways to set up a research trial on insects which includes the new Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (PSHB), which is poised to inflict major damage to our urban forest here in southern California. An example trial established this year at some local botanical gardens in southern California will be covered on controlling PSHB . Other subjects broached with respect to trunk injection will be:

  • University studies and research
  • How trees and palms facilitate uptake of medicaments and fertilizers
