Assisi Garden, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Assisi Garden presented challenges and opportunities to develop a design that was visually stimulating, spiritually inspiring and sustainable. The project's confinement to a narrow space between a multi-level parking garage and a new patient tower needed to be softened and buffered. This canyon-like void was designed with a pedestrian-friendly plaza-courtyard enriched with water features, plantings, specialty pavers and materials. It also has spaces for outdoor dining and seating. The garden is beautiful and serene at the pedestrian level, and presents an equally pleasant view from all levels of the nearby patient tower.

Lee High School, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Opportunities were presented to design a landscape for a new state-of-the-art high school for Baton Rouge. The design team was tasked with creating a hands-on learning environment for 1,200 students, and focused on the heart of the campus. A network of walks and seating areas was incorporated throughout the site, with seamless connections to all learning studios. The amphitheater serves as a performing arts stage, outdoor classroom, and a place where students gather at lunchtime and breaks. A 600-foot bioswale serves as the green spine of the campus, and captures and treats most of the school's stormwater.

Repentance Park, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Reich Associates designed the original Repentance Park in the 1970s. Reed Hilderbrand, in collaboration with Reich Associates, renovated it. Repentence Park was identified in Plan Baton Rouge Phase II as a major piece of a large central green space because of its proximity to many civic, cultural, municipal and entertainment venues. The design team recognized the site's vital location and dynamic grade changes as a good opportunity for unique design solutions. The new park encourages pedestrian activity and connectivity to all major downtown sites.

Towne Center at Cedar Lodge, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Towne Center, a 400,000 square foot development in the center of Baton Rouge, is the home for many popular retail stores and restaurants, including the city's first Whole Foods Market. Reich Associates is the oldest operating landscape architecture firm in Louisiana. Dr. Robert S. Reich opened the office in the 1940s, shortly after starting the landscape architecture program at Louisiana State University, later named the Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture in his honor. Many of its projects have received awards from the ASLA, AIA and the city of Baton Rouge.
