The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has awarded the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals a contract to provide training services on compliance with and adherence to Section 1404 of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. APSP will provide services in all U.S. states except Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, which will receive training under a separate contract awarded to APSP affiliate NESPA.

APSP will create and implement training programs focused on supporting compliance with the P&SS Act by training pool and spa professionals (including aquatics managers and lifeguards) to bring and keep pools and spas in compliance with the act.

“We are very proud that CPSC has recognized our longstanding involvement and expertise with VGB education by awarding this contract to us.” said Garvin DiGiovanni, APSP senior director, technical and standards.

“The opportunity to raise awareness on the Pool & Spa Safety Act and provide a meaningful education experience to the industry aligns with the core values of the Association,” said Michael Reed, APSP director of professional development. “We look forward to partnering with the CPSC and industry members to ensure that pools and spas are fun and safe for consumers.”

As education programs are rolled out, APSP will distribute more information on training times and locations.
