Clare Jagenow, RLA, new president of the ASLA Michigan Chapter. The ASLA currently has 49 professional chapters, and 72 student chapters.


Clare Jagenow, RLA, of Trenton, Michigan, has been elected 2016 president of the Michigan ASLA Chapter. Jagenow has been an active member of the ASLA Michigan Chapter for over 10 years, serving six years concurrently as editor of SITES and as a member of the executive committee.

As Michigan ASLA president, Jagenow says she looks forward to involvement in several state-wide awareness campaigns about the important role landscape architects play in designed spaces, and advocating for state licensure protection.

Jagenow joined SmithGroupJJR in 2006 after earning her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University. She works in the firm's Ann Arbor office, and is a registered landscape architect in the state of Michigan. She served as landscape architect for several of the firm's significant university and urban planning projects, including the campus master plan of Temple University, and the infrastructure plan for Grand Rapids.

SmithGroupJJR is a recognized multidisciplinary architectural, engineering and planning firm that employs 368 LEED professionals and has produced 129 LEED certified projects. Notable projects completed by the firm's Ann Arbor office include award-winning landscape architectural design projects such as Miami University M.E.T Quadrangle and Kent State University's Risman Plaza and Student Green, published in the June 2014 LASN Campus issue http://www.landscapeonline.com/research/article.php/19295.
