DesignIntelligence Ranks 2019 Top LA Programs

For both the undergraduate and graduate program rankings, the highest-ranking schools remained the same from last year, with Louisiana State University maintaining its top status in the undergraduate program ranking and Harvard University continuing to lead the way in the graduate program ranking.


DesignIntelligence, a program that has conducted surveys to determine the top ranked schools in architecture and design since 1999,A has released its 2018-19 rankings of the most admired undergraduate and graduate landscape architecture programs in the country. The program evaluates many facets of landscape architecture education by gathering viewpoints from different groups, including professionals who hire landscape architecture graduates; deans, program chairs and department heads in landscape architecture schools; and current students and recent graduates.

The landscape architectural firms that responded the DesignIntelligence survey answered several questions concerning the preparedness of new hires who attended any of the listed undergraduate or graduate programs. The survey asked deans, program chairs and department heads of architecture schools about the significant changes they see in landscape architecture course offerings over the past 3 years. Students and recent graduates of landscape architecture programs documented their perspective on the skills they acquired and the quality of their programs' facilities and technology.

The 2018-19 top 10 most admired landscape architectural undergraduate programs, according to DesignIntelligence, are as follows:
1. Louisiana State University
2. Cornell University
3. Pennsylvania State University
4. University of Georgia
5. Ohio State University
6. California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo
7. Purdue University
8. Iowa State University
9. Texas A & M University
10. Michigan State University

The 2018-19 top 10 most admired landscape architectural graduate programs, according to DesignIntelligence, are as follows:
1. Harvard University
2. University of Pennsylvania
3. Cornell University
4. Kansas State University, Manhattan
5. Louisiana State University
6. University of California, Berkeley
7. University of Virginia
8. University of Georgia
9. Rhode Island School of Design
10. Ohio State University
