An opening ceremony recently took place for the headquarters of the Harrisburg Urban Studio, located in Harrisburg, Pa. The offspring of Auburn University's Rural Studio-which provides architecture students a chance to live and learn their craft while helping disadvantaged communities-the Urban Studio offers students a real-life classroom experience. They get the chance to live and work while designing urban projects for downtown Harrisburg. The studio's headquarters are located at the Harrisburg Transportation Center at Fourth and Chestnut streets. Students have already begun working on their first project, creating designs for an empty lot in the Market Street area.
