IA Announces Winners for 2019 Program

To kick off Smart Irrigation Month, IA has announced the winners of its annual awards. The awards honor individuals and organizations for their accomplishments and promoting efficient irrigation.

The Irrigation Association has announced the winners of the 2019 Awards Program. Each year, IA awards individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to the irrigation industry. Nominations are reviewed by the IA Honors Committee, and finalists are submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. The awards include Excellence in Education Award, Industry Achievement Award, Innovator Award, Vanguard Award, and Board of Directors Award.

Marcus Duck received the 2019 Excellence in Education Award, which recognizes an individual that is actively teaching or has taught irrigation, water management, and water conservation. Duck currently serves as an advisor and instructor in the department of horticulture at Michigan State University as well as program coordinator for the department's two-year certificate programs.

Jake LaRue received the Industry Achievement Award, which recognizes a person from an industry firm who has made contributions to the irrigation industry. La Rue is the head of the research and development department of Valley Irrigation, and advises national and international organizations regarding education, standards, development and adoption of different irrigation technologies.

Monty Teeter received the Innovator Award, which honors individuals who have made consistent and tangible contributions to the development of the industry. Teeter's Dragon-Line irrigation system focuses on creating solutions to the adoption of mobile drip irrigation. Teeter continues to develop and improve this technology.

The Lindsay Corporation's Riverview LLP project received the Vanguard Award, which acknowledges an innovative project in the industry that has been executed by a team of individuals, companies, or organizations. The Riverview LLP project focused primarily on ensuring long-term sustainability through water conservation for Riverview LLP's Coronado farms, located near Willcox, Arizona.

Carl Kah Jr. was honored with the Board of Directors Award, which recognizes an individual's contributions to the advancement of the industry. Founder of K-Rain, Kah has dedicated himself to developing new irrigation technologies and help bring the industry into the 21st century.
