Ipema Teams with President's Challenge

The President's Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Program asks participants of all ages to log their physical activity throughout the week in order to earn awards. The program offers tools such as a fitness calculator and tips to help get going and stay motivated.

The Voice of Play, the education initiative to encourage play sponsored by the International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), is announcing a working relationship with the President's Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Program, a program that encourages all Americans to make being active part of their everyday lives.

"Our shared goal of getting more kids out to play each day makes this a perfect partnership," said Tom Norquist, IPEMA Marketing Chair. "We're thrilled about collaborating with the President's Challenge. We hope that through working together, we can further spread the word to kids and parents that physical activity - especially through free play - is not only good for their health but also fun."

IPEMA's Voice of Play initiative encourages free, outdoor play as a way to gain physical, emotional, social and intellectual benefits. Last year, the Voice of Play launched the "Parent Play Pledge," which asks parents to prioritize at least one hour of outdoor play every day for all children.

As part of the collaboration, the Voice of Play will be listed as an official "Advocate" for the President's Challenge program and will encourage IPEMA membership, parents and children alike, to sign up for the challenge. The Voice of Play will also link to the President's Challenge Web site and is approved to use the Challenge Seal for communications regarding the relationship. Children's free play is an acceptable activity for children's physical, mental, and social benefit and is an important part of their activity protocol.
