The U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has certified Tony Barrett, landscape architect with Barrett Partners, Inc., as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). Mr. Barrett has over 25 years of experience in land use planning, master planning, zoning, site planning and design, and low-impact and sustainable development planning.

CLC Associates, Inc., a national planning, entitlements, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and land surveying firm, is pleased to announce that 10 individuals in their Denver office have obtained the status of LEED AP. LHB, Inc.


When Mississippi Market, a St. Paul based natural and organic foods co-op, outgrew one of their existing stores, they approached LHB, Inc. to help them design a new retail store that reflects the values of their membership. Located on a brownfield site in the burgeoning Victoria Park development, the 13,000 square foot market will provide the co-op with retail space, a deli, and indoor/outdoor seating space.

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, a premier land development engineering and environmental consulting firm, proudly announced that one of its Senior Principals, Rudolph P. Frizzi, P.E., G.E., is the new president of the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI). Frizzi has 22 years of consulting geotechnical engineering experience, all with Langan. Dean Grandin


Dean Grandin, planning director for the City of Orlando, has been selected by the University of Central Florida’s College of Health and Public Affairs to serve as the chairman of the UCF Planning Advisory Board. Grandin was selected because of his experience and leadership in the field of Urban Planning. In addition to his role as planning director, Grandin serves as project director of Get Active Orlando, an Active Living by Design initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The initiative supports and encourages changes in urban design, land use and transportation policies to cultivate and support active living, a way of life that integrates physical activity into daily routines.






James W. Mares and Jason P. Wampler


Derck & Edson Associates, with offices in Lancaster County (Borough of Lititz) and Centre County (Bellefonte Borough), is pleased to announce that James W. Mares and Jason P. Wampler have joined our firm. He is a recipient of an American Society of Landscape Architecture Honor Award for general studies in landscape architecture, as well as the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture’s Creative Achievement Award. Jason is a project designer. He is a member of Sigma Lambda Alpha Landscape Architecture Honor Society and received an American Society of Landscape Architecture Merit Award for general studies in landscape architecture.

Copley Wolff Design Group (CWDG) announced that the firm, along with EDAW, Inc., is the recipient of an Honor Award for Group Landscape Architecture for their work on the Wharf District Park on Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway from the Maryland and Potomac Chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). The Maryland and Potomac Chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects presented this prestigious award at their 2008 design awards/banquet at the Baltimore Hilton Convention Hotel.






Mark J. Zarrillo


Mark J. Zarrillo, FASLA, AICP, managing principal at Symmes Maini & McKee Associates’ Providence office and 12-year member and current Chairman of the Brookline Planning Board has been appointed to the Providence Preservation Society Committee. Mark will serve on the Planning and Architectural Review Committee, which focuses on planning and design review, advising on rehabilitation of historic properties, new construction in historic areas, and urban design issues.

Maser Consulting P.A., one of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania’s leading engineering firms, announced that Justin E. Dates, R.L.A., an assistant project manager in the firm, recently earned LEED Professional Accreditation for new construction. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This accreditation is extremely important in the emerging field of Low Impact (Green) Design.
