Mahan Rykiel Associates Inc, a landscape architectural firm in Baltimore, Md., recently announced several promotions. Richard Jones, Brian Reetz, Brian Shadrick and Warren Timlen are promoted to associate.

The Thomas Group announces that Brian Domke (ASLA) is now a registered landscape architect in New York State. Domke is a graduate of Cornell University and has been with the Thomas Group for six years. Angie Chapman received certification from the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications.

The Collaborative West, a worldwide landscape architecture firm, has received national recognition for outstanding sales and marketing achievements in the home building industry in three categories. The Gold Award – Attached Community of the Year, for The Strand, Newport Coast; the Silver Award – Best Attached Community of the Year, for Tapestry, Playa Vista; and Best Landscape Design – The Strand, for Newport Coast.

John C. Sobiecki, AIA, is associate principal at Cannon Design, a national architectural, engineering and planning firm.

Award-winning designer William B. Kuhl is vice president of EDAW, Inc., a leading land-based planning and design firm. Over the last 35 years, Kuhl has won wide acclaim for projects ranging from streetscapes and atriums to parks and large-scale master plans.

Chris Lott is associate with Ervin, Lovett & Miller, the Jacksonville architectural, land planning and landscape design firm.

Craig Van Dussen, Sr., RLA, ASLA, is senior landscape architect/project manager in Burgess & Niple, Inc.'s Woodbridge, Virginia office. Van Dussen graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972 with a BLA in landscape architecture. He has an AAS in landscape development from Alfred State College and is a registered landscape architect in Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Ryan P. Hart joins Bilson & Associates in Marietta, Georgia. Ryan received his BLA from the University of Georgia, and is a registered landscape architect in the state of Georgia.

Scott Ohm is project manager of Land Images Inc. in Fort Collins, Co. Ohm holds a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from the University of Idaho as well as a bachelor of science degree in horticulture from Montana State University.

Michael Ferraro, co-founder and president of PlantFind.com, has received Northwood University’s 2003 “Arthur E. Turner Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation.” PlantFind.com offers electronic procurement and quote submission, and online marketplaces for both green goods and allied products.






Dwane Baumgardner


Dwane Baumgardner, former president of Magna Donnelly, has accepted an invitation to serve on the board of directors of Landscape Forms, a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of outdoor commercial furniture and accessories. Baumgardner, a resident of Holland, MI, has a Ph. D in engineering.

Amy Reidt is the new marketing manager for Focus Industries, a manufacturer of landscape lighting.

Sandra Perez is now marketing projects manager for vVista Professional Outdoor Lighting. Perez has a bachelor's degree in marketing from California State University, Northridge. Aaron Krakora is now district trainer for Vista's Orange and San Diego counties in California.

B-K Lighting's president and CEO, Douglas W. Hagen, has acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of B-K Lighting Inc., after two other founding members, Bruce Kalkowiski and Brad Kious have semi-retired and are pursuing other business interests.

Perry Romano, previously vice president of the Varon Outdoor Group, is promoted to president of Varon Lighting Inc. Varon Lighting is a parent organization to manufacturers of indoor and outdoor commercial and residential light fixtures.

Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design welcomes three new designers. Shoshanna Segal joins the NY office. Segal has a MFA in lighting design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the Illuminating engineering Society of North America (IESNA). Steven Espinoza joins the NY office; he has a bachelor of architectural engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University and is also a member of the IESNA. Josie Lawrence joins the San Francisco office; she has a master in architectural engineering from the University of Leeds in the UK.

New sales managers for Barenbrug U.S.A., an Oregon based grass seed research company, include Harvey Nail (Rocky Mountain), Keith Martin (Northeast), Jay Ingham (Northwest), Jill Taber (S. California, Arizona, Nevada) and Mark Thomas (South).
