o TBG Partners, landscape architecture and planning firm, have transferred Senior Associate Mark Loomis and Associate Mark Padilla to their new San Antonio office. Joining Loomis and Padilla in San Antonio is landscape designer Bryan Yates. Yates earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Texas Tech University in 2005. In the TBG Austin office, Greg Nichols has recently been promoted to Associate. Nichols has been with TBG for three years. Nichols graduated in 1993 from Texas State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in technology.

o Scott Mehaffey, RLA, has joined Craig Bergmann Landscape Design, Inc. of Wilmette, Ill., as Design Department Manager. Mehaffey was formerly chief Landscape Architect at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Ill.

o William D. Roach Jr., ASLA, has been promoted to Senior Associate Landscape Architect at The HLA Group. Roach is the former president of the Sierra Chapter of the ASLA.

o Kenneth A. Keltai, RLA, has been named an associate with the firm of Elizabeth Kennedy Landscape Architects (EKLA) of Brooklyn, New York. Keltai has worked on projects for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, New Jersey Transit, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

o Rudy Jaramillo recently joined CLC Associates as a project coordinator and a lead project architect for many of the firm's commissions. Jaramillo's upcoming projects include several retail and restaurant projects in Phoenix and Denver.

o The Timmons Group, a civil engineering and landscape architecture firm in Richmond, Va., has announced that Blake Hall, LA, has passed the Virginia Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE). Hall's achievement will help improve the firm's competitive edge by helping to expand its team of licensed Landscape Architects.


o The American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) presented Dr. Robert Shutzki of Michigan State University with the LC Chadwick Award during their Legislative Conference in Washington. Each year, the ANLA recognizes outstanding educators for their exceptional success in developing students' horticultural skills and motivating them to pursue excellence in their careers.

o Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting has announced the appointment of Efren Saenz as the new vice president of manufacturing. Saenz previously worked with Columbia Lighting in Spokane, Wash., as a quality manager.

o Pete Brentano of Brentano's Tree Farm in St. Paul, Ore., will lead the Oregon Association of Nurseries in 2005-2006 as president of the trade group's executive committee.

o Richard Hawke, plant evaluation manager at the Chicago Botanical Garden is the recipient of the Perennial Plant Association's 2005 Academic Award for exceptional leadership in education to students, green industry members and the garden public.

o Carolyn Weise has joined the staff of Ecological Laboratories Inc. Weise will provide customer feedback regarding water gardens and koi ponds. Weise is the co-vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Koi Club's Long Island, N.Y. chapter where she writes the column, "All About Koi."

o Rob Stredde has joined Lightolier Controls as their new regional sales manager for the North Central United States. Stredde will support the sales of Lightolier Controls and Entertainment Technology through the regional Lightolier sales offices and their distributors.

o The Toro Company, Irrigation Division, has named Brian Ries marketing and product manager of valve and control products for the residential and commercial landscapes.

o Jim Hunt, regional manager of geographic information systems at WilsonMiller, Inc., earned the industry standard Certified GIS Professional designation from the GIS Certification Institute.
