Rachel Berney has been appointed assistant professor of architecture at the USC School of Architecture. Her research has been presented at diverse conferences, including those of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning.  Professor Emeritus Robert S. Harris will continue as director of the master of landscape architecture programs. Harris is a former president of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and has been a member of the National Architectural Accrediting Board.


Kevin A. Spady


Kevin A. Spady, AIA, LEED AP has joined Cannon Design, an internationally ranked architectural, engineering, and planning firm as principal. Mr. Spady brings over 30 years of experience to the firm.  Prior to joining Cannon Design, Spady served as an associate principal and healthcare market sector leader at Perkins + Will in Los Angeles, Calif. Also, Eric Jaffe, AIA has joined the firm as principal. Prior to joining Cannon Design, Jaffe served as principal with RMJM, formerly Hillier.  

Jacksonville-based developer Demetree Brothers, Inc. and environmental design firm Ervin Lovett Miller (ELM) have finalized plans to renovate and revitalize the Ponte Vedra Square Shopping Center located at the southwest corner of Solano Road near Highway AIA. The developer has teamed with the planning, architecture, landscape architecture and urban design firm of ELM to redesign the existing façade of the buildings and the surrounding landscape.


Ingeborg Hegemann


Ingeborg Hegemann, PWS, a BSC Group vice president, has been appointed to serve on the national Certification Review Panel for the Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program (SWSPCP).  She has served on several Massachusetts DEP advisory committees including, most recently, the DEP's Storm Water Advisory Committee and is adjunct professor teaching wetland ecology at UMASS. Lowell.

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc., a Watertown based engineering firm, announced that 11 staff members have earned (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accreditation) from the U.S. Green Building Council. The newly accredited professionals in the region are: Jeff Fasser, director of landscape architecture; Jean Garbier, senior landscape architect; Erin Heacock, environmental planner; Selma Mandzo, transportation engineer; Mike Paiewonsky, environmental planner and project manager; Anne Podkaminer, environmental planner; Nia Rodgers, landscape architect; Griffin Ryder, senior project engineer; Susan Sloan-Rossiter, principal and senior project manager; Kim Threlfall, environmental scientist and Jason Zogg, planner.


Susan Schierwagen


Sol Inc., the world leader in solar LED outdoor lighting announced Susan Schierwagen as its vice president of worldwide sales. Ms. Schierwagen brings to Sol many years of lighting control sales experience, having been associated with Lutron Electronics Co., one of the world’s largest lighting control manufacturers.  Sol also announced John Castner as its business development manager for the Southwestern region of the United States.

Renee Nesbit has joined GardenBleu Landscape Architecture as the administrator to lead the expansion of GardenBleu’s landscape design and installation services. Nesbit worked in banking and as in-house counsel for a credit union. She also spent 10 years doing estate planning and real estate/business transactions and litigation.
