After announcing in June that it has opened two offices in Iraq, Otak Inc., a full service architectural planning, design and engineering firm, just added seven new principals to its offices in the West. Dennis Haden and Mike Peebles are principals in Portland, OR. Peter Watson is principal in Seattle, WA. Nico Vanderhorst and Russ Gaston are principals in Kirkland, WA. Tom Walsh is principal in Vancouver, WA. Dick Yano is principal in Tempe, AZ.

Jacqueline Rast

Jacqueline Rast, P.E. is equity partner with the Greenway Group who develops solutions for the AEC marketplace. Rast is a graduate of Penn State with more than 20 years of experience in the engineering and construction industries. She is a past recipient of the American Council of Engineering Companies Award for Engineering Excellence, and the Society of American Military Engineers Rocky Mountain Region Honor Award.

TBG Partners, a landscape architecture and land planning firm, announces four new landscape designers. James Knapp joins the Austin office. Knapp earned a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from Texas Tech University in 2003. Shaobo Du joins the Houston office. Du earned a bachelor of architecture degree from Shenyang Architecture University in China in 2001 and a master's in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University in 2004. Will Jones joins the Houston office. Jones earned a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from Louisiana State University. Todd Shuford joins the Houston office. Shuford earned a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from Louisiana State University.

New England Landscapes, Inc., a landscape design and installation firm located in Scarborough, Maine, has three new additions. Jeffrey Chakirelis is vice president of design and sales and has a degree in landscape architecture from Ohio State University. Robert Mitchell is a landscape designer and has a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Rhode Island. Christel St. Laurent is office manager. St. Laurent is a graduate of Champlain College in Burlington, VT and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Technical College in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Darrin Wood

Darrin Wood is the national sales manager in commercial and industrial markets for Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting. Wood will liaison with national distributors, landscape architects, designers and lighting engineers.

Mac Schmidt is senior vice president of Concrete Products. Schmidt was previously president of the Belgard hardscape division of Oldcastle Architectural Products Group.

Peter Temko

Peter Temko is general manager for Dosatron International, Inc. Temko has a master's in business administration from Georgia Southern University and works out of the Clearwater, FL headquarters. Dosatron International, Inc. is an industry leader in water-driven, proportional chemical dispensers.

Green Earth Landscaping & Design, Inc. is awarded the 2004 Award for Excellence in Business in the $1 million-plus category from the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA). The award is based on business practices, customer satisfaction, community relations and accountability.

Ben Wells is an outside sales representative for Skinner Nurseries, covering the northeast Florida area. For the past four years, Wells has managed his own landscape business and is extensively trained in all phases of landscape construction. Sterling Dees is the new branch manager for the company's Houston distribution center. Dees has over 21 years experience in the green industry, most of which has been spent as the owner of a high-end residential landscape design/contract firm.

Rob Brannon

Rob Brannon is new territory manager for the Northern California operations division of Pacific Earth Resources, parent company of Pacific Sod and Pacific Arbor Nurseries.

Thomas Hanson will manage the new design and sales office of Roman Fountains Corporation in Atlanta, G.A. Roman Fountains, headquartered in Albuquerque, designs and manufactures decorative architectural fountains, water components, and systems for commercial applications.

Devesh Singh, West Coast research manager for Barenbrug USA, has been promoted to director of research.

Chuck Klingenstein, AICP, will manage the new Jones & Stokes office in Salt Lake City, Utah. He will also play a role in the firm's growth in its Southwest and Intermountain region. Klingenstein has wide planning experience as a councilman for Park City, Utah and an adjunct professor of planning at the University of Utah.
