o Playcore has announced the addition of John L. Conely, Sr. to its executive team as chief operating officer. In this newly created role, he will be responsible for the full range of the company's operations, which consist of manufacturing and assembly facilities in Ft. Payne, Alabama and Janesville, Wisconsin.

o Bill Hoopes, Scotts LawnService director of training, is retired from the company at the end of July. He will begin his own training consulting business, Bill Hoopes Grass Roots Training, providing basic lawn care and leadership training.

o Allmand Bros., Inc. has announced the appointment of Dave Morgan as president and chief operating officer. Morgan's responsibilities include streamlining manufacturing operations, developing foreign manufacturing partnerships and exploring new business strategies and product lines.

o The Irrigation Association is pleased to announce that Thomas Dudich, of Chapel Valley Landscape, Woodbine, MD, has passed the required IA Certification Examination to become a Certified Irrigation Designer – Residential (CID).

o The STARS (Safety Training Achieves Remarkable Success) Safe Company Program has four new green industry safety managers who have been named to the new STARS Champions Advisory Council. They are: Laurie Bishop of The Bruce Co.; Elias Godinez of Pacific Landscape Management; Mari Medrano of CoCal Landscape; and Jerry Schumacher of Vande Hey's Landscape Center.

o The Pennsylvania Floral Industry Association (PFIA) welcomes Dave Musselman of Musselman Wholesale Foliage in Cashtown, Pa., to the board of directors. Musselman has been involved in the family business of floriculture his entire life.

o Trost Irrigation was named the K-Rain 2004 Contractor of the Year for the state of Michigan recently. Terry Trost accepted the award at the Spartan Distributors' Annual Business Meeting and Trade Show.

o Total Landscape, Inc. has announced the promotion of Ricardo Morales to field superintendent on their production team. Morales is the first Hispanic management staff member in the company's 15+ year history.

o Joe Loughrey has been named president and chief operating officer of Cummins, Inc. Loughrey's promotion is part of a company reorganization that includes the move of Jim Kelly to president of engine business; Rick Mills to president of the new components group; Rich Freeland to president, worldwide distribution business; and Steve Chapman to group vice president, emerging markets and businesses. Tom Linebarger and Jean Blackwell have been named executive vice presidents as well.

o The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) has announced that Bart A. Kelley has joined the organization as the new Midwest regional manager.

o Total Landscape has announced three new hires. Kristen Seaman joins as the new design technician on the company's design/build team, and Debi Johnson and Rebecca Clark have joined the office administration team.

o Brad Adams has joined Irrometer Company, Inc., in Riverside, Calif. as a sales representative. Adams will direct all sales and marketing activities in Southern California and Southern Nevada for the landscape and golf markets.

o Manny Castro has joined Irritrol Systems as contractor sales manager for the state of Arizona. Castro is a previous winner of the Toro Golf Division Service Person of the Year Award.

o Prinson Sales, Inc. and Dick Johnson & Associates, Inc., have merged to create Cascadia Sales Group, Inc. ...fluid solutions. The new company will provide sales and marketing services for manufacturers and distributors of quality engineered products that measure, filter and control fluids.

o Shindaiwa recently recognized three dealers for their outstanding sales of Shindaiwa hedge trimmers. Boca Raton Small Engines, Boca Raton, Fla.; Gardenland Power Equipment, Campbell, Calif.; and Green Thumb Mower Sales & Service, Tamarac, Fla., all received commemorative awards from the company.

o John Burns, former national sales manager for Carson Industries, has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Storm Manufacturing Group.

o Bill Loflin has been promoted to general manager of Hydratec.
