Participants in last years Professional Landcare Network’s (PLANET) Day of Service are sharing their plans in anticipation of this year’s event, scheduled for April 22, 2009 (Earth Day).

Britton Elementary School is receiving assistance from Buck & Sons Landscape Service, Inc in Hilliard, Ohio. Volunteers are planning to install an educational planting display about the regional ecology and are working with science teachers to develop the display. “It is really important that kids understand that everything we do has an impact on the environment,” said Steve Buck, owner.

The New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association will also be participating in the event with an effort to create a habitat for the ruffed grouse at an 80-year old Boy Scout camp in Hardwick, New Jersey.
