Latino Leadership Institute Announces New Fellow

As a new member of the LLI Fellowship Program, Medrano will receive personal assessment in branding strategies, community involvement and professional development. She will also be offered the training and tools to strengthen and promote her ability to impact and improve Latino communities.

The National Hispanic Landscape Alliance and the Latino Leadership Institute (LLI) at the University of Denver have announced Marisol Medrano Mejia as a fellow for the LLI Fellowship Winter 2017 Program.

Medrano, board member of the NHLA and human resources director for CoCal Landscape, has been selected as one of the 25 professionals that will take part in an intensive, nine-month fellowship program. The LLI trains, supports, and elevates professional and executive Latinos to positions of influence.

"Through this program I'm looking forward to growing the strong, assertive, and self-assured Latina Leader that's within me, and developing the skills to mobilize others and maximize the good we can do in our community," said Medrano. "My aim is to demonstrate that we, as a community, are a powerhouse and highlight our many contributions to this country," she added.

Medrano's 18 years of experience in the landscape industry have not only allowed her to grow professionally, but have also equipped her with the knowledge and insight to advocate on behalf of the industry's workforce on issues that affect its livelihood. Through her role at the National Hispanic Landscape Alliance, she has served as a mentor and inspiration for landscaping employees across the country, promoting upward development through training and educational resources.

The Latino Leadership Institute at the University of Denver is the nation's premier professional development program, advancing an elite network of Latino leaders. Now in its fourth year, its exceptional Fellowship Program prepares Latino leaders for the highest levels of influence in the business, education, government, and non-profit sectors.
