Minnesota ASLA Chapter

The theme for the Minnesota Chapter's April 21 Education Conference at the Securian Club in St. Paul was "Equity--Designing for the 21st Century." The theme was all about encouraging members to promote social, environmental and economic equity, explore innovation and best practices in design and to facilitate civic engagement to create healthy and livable communities. Presentations included "Advancing Health Equity," "Building a Collaborative Justice Framework to Organize the Activist Designer," "Promoting Resiliency and Equity Among Communities," "Pipeline for Future Professionals," and "Equity Issues Along the Green Line."


The Honor Award in general design went to Damon Farber Associates for Maple Grove Central Park in Maple Grove, Minn. Architect: U+B, Stantec consulting services. The lead consultant for Damon Farber was Tom Whitlock, president (1a). Rounding out the firm leaders are vps Jesse Symynkywicz, ASLA (1b), Joan Macleod, ASLA, LEED AP (1c) and principal Jean Garbarini, ASLA (1d).


University of Minnesota alumni were out in force at the ASLA Expo in Los Angeles, Oct. 21-22.


The ASLA Minnesota Student Chapter posted this image of projects the students in the U. of Minnesota MLA program have been working on this semester.

Bruce Chamberlain of the Minnesota ASLA Chapter became an ASLA Fellow this year in the category of "Leadership/Management."


The chapter's annual golf event/dinner was held on Sept. 12 at the Keller Golf Course in Maplewood.
