Pesticide Applicator Credits Available in Michigan

Several options are available for residents in and around Michigan to complete required accreditation processes relating to pest management and pesticide application.

Landscape professionals located in and around Michigan, and still needing continuing education credits for pesticide application, will be delighted to learn that the Michigan State University Integrated Pest Management extension is holding a plethora of classes until the end of the year.

The class locations, topics and lengths vary, however there are currently 19 classes available until April 5, 2019. If you are interested, take a look at this webpage in order to learn about specific dates, times and class information offered.

Michigan State University Extension has also developed an online course specifically aimed at providing "integrated pest management (IPM) education" and pesticide recertification credits.

According to the class's webpage, the "Desire to Learn Integrated Pest Management Academy" is an interactive online program that attempts to deliver a "comprehensive and convenient online learning experience."

Topics within the class include: an introduction to integrated pest management principles and concepts, plant science, soils 101, how to conserve pollinators and more. The course is a combination of videos, resources and interactive exercises. Possible enrollees can complete a computer check on the class's main page ( to see if their system is capable of running the program.

The class only costs $10 to register and upon completion certified pesticide applicators in Michigan can request 6 credits (1A, 1B, Commercial Core or Private Core). Participants can also print a certificate of completion.
