Nine volunteers from Gachina Landscape Management aided in the renovation of a daycare facility in Fremont, California. Some workers helped with removing weeds from planters and adding compost for future planting.

Partnering with the International Facilities Management Association Silicon Valley chapter (IMFA SV) and The GROW Organization, Gachina Landscape Management participated in an Earth Day beautification project at the Sunnyvale Adult School Daycare facility in the Fremont Union High School District.

The Sunnyvale Adult School offers many needed programs to adult learners such as Adult Literacy, English as a Second Language, GED classes and Career Preparedness classes. The school's daycare facility, called Bright Beginnings, is a parent-participation preschool as well as a parent education facility that teaches valuable child-rearing skills to new and struggling parents.

Volunteers from multiple different companies and trades pitched in to renovate the school's landscaping, tree services, carpentry, painting, electrical work and more. At the end of the day, the facility was neat and clean, freshly painted, weeded and mulched. Workers installed upgraded irrigation equipment and light fixtures, and the children even received new play structures.

In addition to clearing weeds, the volunteer team from Gachina installed an after-hours watering system for the lawn and new rubber surfacing for the facility's small playground.

A team of nine volunteers from Gachina Landscape Management spent a whole Saturday renovating the landscape and children's play area at the facility. The services provided by the Gachina team members is estimated at $8,474.

The volunteers removed a trip hazard by installing decomposed granite with base rock and a retaining wall. They also top-dressed three sandboxes, installed sod in bare lawn areas, removed weeds from the garden planter, added compost for future planting and top-dressed the entrance planter areas with compost and mulch.

Gachina Landscape Management has partnered with IMFA SV on their Spring community outreach projects since 2008. The company consistently donates time, expertise, materials and equipment to charitable causes in the Silicon Valley area.
