PLANET Accredits U. of Maryland




The PLANET team is pleased to grant Full Accreditation to the University of Maryland's Landscape Management Program in the Department of Plant Sciences and Landscape Architecture at the four-year Bachelor of Science degree level.

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Accreditation team is charged with the responsibility and authority of on-site reviews and recognition of institutions of higher learning. The PLANET Accreditation team visited the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, February 28 to March 2, 2010. The group consisted of team leader and co-chair Kent Hammond, Associate Professor Emeritus, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, Wooster, Ohio; team co-chair Greg Jolley, RLA, professor of Landscape Management, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah; and Josh Denison, vice president, Denison Landscaping, Inc., Fort Washington, Maryland. The school's accreditation status will continue until 2017, at which time another review will be required.

PLANET's Accreditation program recognizes landscaping curricula that meet the needs of the landscape industry and also serves to recognize four-year Bachelor of Science and two-year Associate of Science degree programs.
