IA Announces Initiative for Research Advancement
Collaborative Research Effort Received $10 Million


The research initiative will be governed by a committee and allow other organizations to join the consortium.

The Irrigation Association is excited to announce the formation of the Irrigation Innovation Consortium, a research effort to advance development of water-efficient irrigation technology.

The $5 million Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research grant was matched with contributions from participants, which includes the IA, for a total investment of $10 million.

Founding members include:

• California State University, Fresno
• Colorado State University
• Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska
• Irrigation Association
• Jain Irrigation
• Kansas State Research and Extension, Kansas State University
• Lindsay Corporation
• Northern Water
• Rubicon Water
• Texas A&M AgriLife Research

An executive committee comprised of the five initial research institutions and the IA will govern the IIC.

Twenty-five representatives from private companies participated in the discussion to decide the research focus for the consortium. The event took place in Lincoln, Neb., with the IIC being headquartered in Ft. Collins, Co.
